The International Water Association (IWA) has officially opened the call for abstracts for the 11th IWA Conference on Odours and Air Emissions 2026, which will take place from 2 to 5 November 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Based on the success of previous conferences held in Sydney, Singapore, Barcelona, Paris, Warsaw, Hangzhou, Bilbao, and Hobart, this new edition marks a significant milestone as Malaysia hosts the global odour community for the first time.
The call for abstracts opened yesterday and will remain open until 6 July 2026. If you are interested in participating in this global and well-known conference, we encourage you to prepare and submit your abstract through the official website.
This conference will cover two main areas: odours and air emissions. In the odour field, topics include monitoring and measurement techniques, dispersion modelling, community perception, source identification, and management in specific industries. In the air emissions field, topics include control and monitoring, dispersion, industrial emissions, greenhouse gases, indoor air quality, and occupational health.
The deadline for abstract submission is 6 July 2026. Authors will be notified of acceptance on 24 July 2026. Full papers are due by 4 September 2026, and the conference will take place from 2 to 5 November 2026.
Submissions must be in English, not exceeding three A4 pages, and should clearly define the objective, methodology, and main results. Submission is exclusively online, and once an abstract is accepted, a processing fee of RM 500 will apply. In addition, accepted authors must register as conference attendees before 4 September 2026.
The 11th IWA Conference is expected to have more than 200 delegates, 20 speakers, and 20 scientific sessions from around the world. The event aims to advance scientific and technical knowledge on odour and air emissions management, share global best practices, and foster collaboration among academia, industry, and regulatory bodies. Kuala Lumpur serves as a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia, offering opportunities to strengthen regional capacity in odour management while connecting Asia with Europe, Australia, and the Americas.
