Lakes Environmental is teaming up with Addlink to offer a 2-day AERMOD course and 3-day CALPUFF course this March in Barcelona, Spain.
These courses are designed to meet the demands of the air pollution modeling industry, with theory and hands-on case studies giving you a full understanding of both the AERMOD and CALPUFF modeling system.
Both courses will be presented in English by Dr. Jesse Thé from Lakes Environmental, who has taught hundreds of courses to US EPA regulators, industry, and consultants worldwide.
There are other courses in the following locations:

AERMOD Training (Air Dispersion Modeling Workshop)
OBJECTIVES
This course is intended for air quality professionals working, or planning to work, in the assessment of air pollution impact. At the end of the course the attendee should be able to understand the basics of regulatory air dispersion modeling and to use screening and refined models for permit applications and risk assessment. Students will work on case studies using AERMOD View.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Air quality professionals in environmental consulting companies, government agencies, and other corporate environmental engineers involved, or planning to be involved, in the prediction of the impact caused by sources of air pollution.
PROGRAMME
See program here.
COURSE INSTRUCTORS
Dr. Jesse L. Thé, PhD., P.Eng., is the President of Lakes Environmental Software. Dr. Thé has over 20 years experience in thermal fluid flow and environmental simulations. He is the main author of AERMOD , CALPUFF, IRAP-h View, and Emissions View, among others . He consults for regulatory agencies in Canada, the USA, and abroad on topics related to complex air modelling projects. He is a professor at the University of Waterloo, and has authored commercial software and co-authored technical environmental books. Dr. Jesse Thé is a great public speaker, who has received outstanding reviews from those attending his courses.
INCLUDED IN THE FEE
Fee includes daily computer use, course notes, and the latest versions of EPA models presented during the course with associated documentation.
Refreshments offered during morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Lunch is not included.
Each course attendee will receive a full license of:
- Screen View: Calculates ground-level pollutant concentration estimates for a single source (screening model).
- WRPLOT View: Generates wind rose plots for your meteorological data.
- Percent View: Generates percentile concentrations for the ISCST3, AERMOD, or ISC-PRIME results and computes rolling averages.
A 10% discount will be applied to AERMOD View software purchases received within 90 days.
BENEFITS TO PARTICIPANTS
- Learn how to use air dispersion models.
- Understand the different U.S. EPA models for regulatory applications.
- Apply what you learn in interactive case studies using various air models and related programs: AERMOD, AERMET, AERMAP, ISCST3, ISC-PRIME, BPIP, PCRAMMET, and WRPLOT.

CALPUFF Training (Air Dispersion Modeling Workshop)
17th-19th March 2010
OBJECTIVES
This course is intended for air quality professionals who require a knowledge of puff air dispersion modeling approaches and techniques. This course builds upon essential ADM concepts demonstrating the potential for accurate results at small and large scales or in regions of immense complexity. At the end of the course the attendee should be able to use the appropriate model necessary for a variety of regulatory applications, efficiently using the model at-hand. Case studies will be used throughout the course giving "real world" applicability to atmospheric dispersion theory.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Air quality professionals in environmental consulting companies, government agencies, and other corporate environmental engineers involved, or planning to be involved, in the prediction of the impact caused by sources of air pollution.
