This paper presents the results of a pilot study aimed at identifying the most effective odor and VOC treatment system for sludge thermal drying.
The study evaluates the performance of various technologies in reducing odor, ammonia, and total organic carbon, providing key data on removal efficiencies and operational parameters. These findings help plant managers plan future treatment systems, minimize risks, and optimize costs while ensuring compliance with emission limits.

Abstract
This paper describes the results of the pilot study to design the most suitable odor and VOC treatment system for a sludge thermal drying. The results of the study demonstrate the impact on odor, NH3 and TOC abatement of each of the tested technologies and allow to obtain expected removal efficiencies, relevant operating parameters, and optimizable aspects to define the optimal treatment system for this sludge drying. The study allows to safely plan the needs of the future treatment system to be implemented by the plant manager, to eliminate uncertainties and risks of non-compliance and to optimize investment and operating costs with the right solution for the real needs to guarantee the established emission limits.
