Thanks to everyone who joined and supported the 24h‑MOM event! The money raised is going straight back to the odour/odor community: we’re launching four (4) Travel Awards of 1100 euro each to help students get to odour/odor‑related conferences and workshops during this 2026 and next 2027.
We’re looking for PhD Students in areas like environmental, chemical or electronic engineering, environmental sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, water and waste management, air quality, etc. The events covered by this grant are any conference, congress, workshop or advanced course clearly focused on odours/odors, air quality and odour/odor impact, sensors, chemical olfaction or olfactometry, organised or co‑organised by groups such as:
- Odor Technical Committee (TC) of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA)
- International Society of Olfaction and Chemical Sensing (ISOCS)
- Digital Olfaction Society (DOS)
- Air Quality and Odor Control (AQOC) Committee of the Water Environmental Federation (WEF)
- Specialist Group on Odours (SGO) of the International Water Association (IWA)
- Asociación Medioambiental Internacional de Gestores del Olor International Environmental Society of Odour Managers (AMIGO)
- Odour Special Interest Group (OdourSIG) of the Clean Air Society for Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ)
- Italian Society of Chemical Engineers (AIDIC) NOSE Conferences
- Japan Association on Odor Environment (JAOE)
- Key Laboratory of Odor Pollution Control, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China (KLPOC)
- Sensors Council Standards Committee (SC-SC) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
- Kommission Reinhaltung der Luft (KrdL) Commission on Air Pollution Control Committee of the Association of German Engineers (VDI/DIN)
- and similar odour‑focused communities.
The event must take place between 2026 and 2027.
What can the award pay for?
This award will help with:
- Travel
- Student registration fee
- Accommodation
- Other expenses
There will be a maximum amount per student of 1100 € in total. The number of available Grants is 4.
How to apply
Send an email to 24h-mom@olores.org with the subject: “24h‑MOM Award Application – [Your Name]” and attach a single PDF including:
- A short application form (we’ll provide a template).
- A 1‑page motivation letter:
- Why you want to attend that event.
- How it fits your studies and future plans.
- The abstract of your talk/poster, if you have one (title, authors, oral/poster).
- A short support letter from your supervisor or a researcher you work with.
- A brief CV (max. 2 pages).

- Deadline for applications: 25 April 2026, 23:59 CET
- Notification to selected students: 5 May 2026
What we ask in return
If you get an award, we simply ask you to:
- Actually attend the event (and present your work, if applicable).
- Acknowledge the 24h‑MOM award in your poster/talk (e.g. in acknowledgements).
- After the event, send us:
- A short 1–2 page report about what you did and learned.
- Optionally, a short article or blog‑style piece to share your experience.
