A new Special Issue in Sensors, titled “Advances in Odour Monitoring and Environmental Impact Assessment,” invites research on odour measurement, monitoring and source characterisation, sensing technologies, and environmental impact assessment. This Special Issue welcomes experimental and modelling studies, including applied case studies in industrial, agricultural and livestock-production settings.
Led by the well-known Guest Editors Dr Marzio Invernizzi and Dr Francesca Tagliaferri, the Special Issue aims to advance understanding of odour emission and its effects. Read on for an overview of its scope and how to submit a manuscript.
Topics of interest include odour measurement and monitoring methods, instrumental detection systems such as sensors and electronic noses, and continuous emission-monitoring systems. The issue also welcomes research on characterising point, area, diffuse and fugitive sources.
Other areas include estimating emission rates and their variability, identifying and quantifying odorants, and combining chemical measurements with sensory data. Contributions on short-term odour episodes, atmospheric dispersion and odour-impact modelling are also encouraged.
The editors welcome research articles, review articles and short communications. Manuscripts should present original work that has not been published previously or submitted for consideration elsewhere, apart from conference proceedings papers.
Submissions are made online through the Sensors website. Manuscripts that pass the initial pre-check undergo single-anonymized peer review. Accepted papers are published online as they are accepted and grouped on the Special Issue webpage.
Researchers planning a submission may send the Editorial Office a proposed title and an abstract of around 250 words for assessment. Authors should consult the journal’s instructions before preparing and submitting their manuscript.
Explore the full scope and submission information on the Special Issue page. The page also provides access to the submission process and further guidance for authors.
