Abstract

   Olfactometers and equipment of dilution used in odour laboratories must be calibrated regularly. It is one of the quality requirements of the UNE-EN 13725 standard. In this way, our work plays an important role as calibration laboratory accredited to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

   Calibration must be performed using a standard of known concentration, for example carbon monoxide, an expanded uncertainty less than 3% and a physicochemical analysis method.

   The accuracy and instability are determined for each dilution. The objective of the laboratory is showing the results of the calibration to the costumer through a document called test report or calibration certificate.

   It is necessary to know each equipment that exists in the market to calibrate equipment odor emission and take into account a number of key aspects, so that relevant information regarding predilution equipments and fixed and portable olfactometers will be detailed. It is necessary to choose a standard of carbon monoxide with certain requirements in order to avoid the uncertainty during calibration process.

   It is important to emphasize the calibration field not only in this area, but also in many others to ensure the reliability of the measurement of the measuring instruments.
