The choice of model must be tailored to the specific environmental conditions, source characteristics and project objectives, so no one model is universally superior to others. Abstract
The coupling of Eulerian meteorological models—WRF (Skamarock et al., 2019)—with Gaussian, Lagrangian puff, and particle models is widely used to calculate odor impact based on emissions determined by dynamic olfactometry. Four models have been tested with the aim of evaluating the performance of each: PMSS, Parallel Micro Swift Spray (ARIANET/ARIA Technologies), GRAL (Graz University of Technology), CALMET/CALPUFF (Scire et al., 2000), and AERMOD (US-EPA).
