Odour Dispersion modelling course in Santiago, Chile

calpuff course   The organizers of OLORES19 Conference invite you to take advantage of the attendance of the expert in odour modelling Jennifer Barclay to the event in Santiago, Chile, to help organizing a course conducted by this member of the team that developed CALPUFF.

   This 1 day introductory course will be held at the office of TSG Environmental in Santiago, Europa 2066 Providencia; this specific course will be held the 25th November 2019, one day before the OLORES19 event. If you are interested in attending, register as soon as possible, as the places are limited. The course will be provided entirely in English.You can download the program here.

   Dispersion modelling is a key management tool for quantifying and assessing odour impact. Models can predict quantitative air quality impacts over a wide geographical area, they can evaluate proposed future sources, can help optimize source layout and site selection for new facilities. Models can be used to design buffer zones and fence line locations.

   This 1 day introductory course will give you an overview of regulatory models, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. Key model inputs such as meteorology, emission rates and correct source characterisation will be discussed as well as presentation and interpretation of modelling results.    5 years ago, a similar course was organized in Santiago, Chile, as a pre-conference workshop of the II International Conference about Odours hosted by this website, Olores.org. In that case, the course was an “Introduction to Odour Modelling” and within days, there were no places left. So hurry up to grab your place!

   Jenny Barclay, Director and Principal Scientist of the company Atmospheric Science Global, has more than 26 years’ experience in advanced meteorological studies and atmospheric dispersion modelling on all types of steady-state, non-steady state, particle, Eulerian and prognostic models.

   Jenny was considered the ‘Odour Expert’ of the Atmospheric Studies Group (Developers of the CALPUFF model), where she was a key member for more than 15 years.
