CALPUFF advanced course

   We are pleased to announce that we have opened registration period for another two-day Odour Course about Meteorological and Dispersion Modelling with CALPUFF. This specialist training course is being organized by Olores.org and will take place on 20 and 21 November, 2015 in Bilbao Spain.  This third specialist course on odour emission modelling with CALPUFF is made in collaboration with the independent odour modeling specialist Jennifer Barclay.

   Afther the successful editions of 2013 in Madrid, Spain and 2014 in Santiago, Chile, it is time to organize the 3rd Course on CALPUFF and odour Modelling. This time though, we are organizing an Advanced Course.

   In this course, we will try out the latest version of CALPUFF released the 22nd June 2015. The Version 7 of CALPUFF contains many new features.The model updates introduce new source types including roadways and flare modeling. The new pre-processor SURFGEN which can process sub-hourly ASOS data and the post-processors CALRANK, CALAVE and CALMAX are also now available. A practical case application for odours using the new CALApps will be offered to participants on both days of the course.

   Admission will be based on the number of available vacant seats and will be strictly on a first-come-first serve basis

   The two-day advanced CALPUFF and Odours course is aimed at individuals interested in air quality science and who have a working knowledge of meteorological and dispersion modelling. Day 1 of the course will mostly be an Introduction Day and will cover a wide range of topics related to odour. Day 2 is aimed at individuals already familiar with modelling who want to learn more about complex odour applications and procedures.

   Exponent’s latest beta Graphical User Interface (GUI), CALApps for the new CALPUFF Version 7 will be introduced at the course.

   Maybe some of you remember our previous post over a year ago in which we mentioned that CALApps would be for free according to the developers. However, things have changed now and to this date CALApps is no longer free.

   Only for the people attending this course, we have reached an agreement with Exponent and last version of CALApps  will be available for purchase for a small fee by contacting Irene Lee at Exponent after the course.

   The objective of the course is to give a thorough overview of meteorology and dispersion modelling theory for odours with some practical application.

   The course will be conducted by Jennifer Barclay a past member of the CALPUFF model development team. The course will be held in Bilbao, Spain. The course will start at 8h30am and finish at 5h30pm each day.

   The course will be held in the BBF building, located at number 6 Uribitarte Street (second entrance by "Paseo de Uribitarte number 3"), at the 3rd floor. The nearest hotel is the "Hotel Jardines de Albia", but there are many hotels nearby.
