Group analysis of odour impact

Villena   The odour annoyance suffered by Villena´s population (Alicante, Spain) since some years has been the beginning of the program respiravillena.com. In order to do this, a working group was created, formed by locals and diverse groups and associations, who was in charge of spreading out the program and motivating the population to participate in this study.

   There were provided three ways of public participation (Whatsapp, webpage and paper forms) to notify odour annoyance, so as to link these notifications with the information provided by the air quality and meteorological stations settled in several places nearby.

Abstract


   The odour annoyance suffered by Villena´s population since some years has been the beginning of the program respiravillena.com. In order to do this, it was created a working group, formed by 12 local and diverse groups and associations, who was in charge of spread out the program and motivate the population to participate with the analysis. There were provided three ways of public participation (whatsapp, wedpage and paper forms) to notify odour annoyance, so as to link these notifications with the information provided by the air quality and meteorological stations settled in several places.

   The goal was to find the cause of the odour and its relation with the meteorological and the air quality information.
The result of the public participation, more than 170 notifications of odour incidents lasted for 9 months were received, which have permitted link the waste management plants with the odour annoyance.
