Published the preliminary program of the coming IWA Odour and VOCs Conference in Warsaw

7th iwa warsaw   The IWA Odour and Air Emissions Conferences are one of the worldwide leading odour conferences, together with the WEF and the NOSE events. The next one will take place in less than a month in Warsaw, Poland and the preliminary program has been finally published.

 The IWA people is eager to meet up and catch up with things. Following the cancellation of the past conference due to the tragic events that occurred in Paris, there has been a long period of 4 years since the last conference took place in San Francisco in 2013. Now the waiting is over and in just a month the show will start. But, what can we expect from this conference?

September 7th: last day to send your abstract to the WEF Odor Conference

wef odors 2018The WEF has just announced the opening of the call for abstracts for the largest odor conference in US. The final date for abstract reception is September, 7, 2017. This conference will once again bring together environmental professionals from around the world for a showcase on odors and air pollutants management.

The Air Quality and Odor Control (AQOC) Committee of the Water Environmental Federation (WEF) is a very active team of the WEF that counts on around 80 members. Every other year they organize the largest conference on environmental odor management and this time they will organize their next event in March 2018 in Portland.

The ASTM Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation will be holding a new meeting in New Orleans, LA US

astm e18 meeting 2017The ASTM Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation of Materials and Products meets twice a year, usually in April and October. This time the ASTM E18 meeting will be hold in New Orleans, from Tuesday, October 10th 2017 to Thursday, October 12th 2017. Many professionals attend these three days of technical meetings that usually conclude with a presentation on relevant topics in the Sensory Evaluation Field.

   The Committee E18 was formed in 1960 and to date it has around 240 members spread in 10 technical subcommittees that currently maintain jurisdiction over 31 standards. Some of these 1-hour meetings will deal with interesting aspects such as panelist performance, sensory quality or panelist feedback among many other interesting subjects. In addition a session about terminology will be also hold.

ASTM E1909 - Standard Guide for Time-Intensity Evaluation of Sensory Attributes reapproved

panelists product time intensity   The Standard Guide for Time-Intensity Evaluation of Sensory Attributes (ASTM E1909) has been reapproved and is now available with the name E1909-13(2017). This standard is developed by the Committee E18.03, who this time decided to leave the text of the document as is.

   The purpose of time-intensity measurements is to establish the pattern of development and decline of a particular sensory characteristic under study. T-I evaluations are applicable when measurements at a single time point (an averaging process) are not sufficient to distinguish products that have very different temporal characteristics.
